Que for two – Valentine’s Dinner


Count down to Valentine’s Day! Let’s take this back to the old school and skip the reservation line. Fellas, your wife/girlfriend would love nothing more than for you to get behind the stove/grill and throw down! Candle light dinner at the comfort of your own kingdom. Let’s wine and dine baby, deaf man’s style!

Our Valentine’s menu is roasted peppered rib eye roast with sides of mushrooms divine and party potatoes!

Roasted Peppered Rib Eye of Beef


  • ½ cup coarsely cracked pepper

  • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom seed

  • 5 or 6 pounds boneless rib eye beef roast

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 cup soy sauce

  • ¾ cup vinegar

  • 1 ½ tablespoons cornstarch mixed with ¼ cup cold water (optional)


  • Rub pepper and cardamom all over meat

  • Marinate meat in refrigerator for 24 hours in sauce made by mixing tomato paste, garlic powder, soy sauce and vinegar

  • One hour before cooking, spoon marinade over meat several times and let stand at room temperature

  • Wrap meat in foil. Place in shallow pan and roast at 300° for 2 hours for medium rare. Open foil. Ladle out and reserve dripping, Brown roast uncovered at 350° while making gravy.

Mushrooms Divine


  • 2 pounds fresh mushrooms

  • 3 medium onions, chopped

  • 1 stick butter

  • 1½ teaspoons salt

  • 1½ teaspoons ground black pepper

  • Juice of 1 ½ lemons

  • Freshly ground nutmeg


  • Wash mushrooms thoroughly (do not soak). Remove stems.

  • Over low heat, very gently sauté onions in ½ stick butter.

  • Place mushrooms caps side down on top of onions in large skillet. Fill each cavity with pat of butter. Sprinkle with remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on medium heat about 12-15 minutes. Set aside 5 minutes.

  • Serve with Rib eye.

Party Potatoes


  • 8-10 medium size potatoes

  • 1 cup soar cream

  • 1 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened

  • 4 tablespoons butter

  • 1/3 cup chopped chives

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Additional butter

  • Paprika

Boil potatoes until tender, beat sour cream and cheese together, add hot potatoes, and beat until smooth. Add Butter, chives, and salt and pepper to taste.
